Botanical Name - Artabotrys odoratissimus

----- A. odoratissimus, R. Br., F.B.I. 1-54. Vern, Madan-mast, Hind.

----- A large scrambling glabrous shrub. Leaves evergreen, thinly-coriaceous, oblong-lanceolate, 4-6 in. by 1-2 in. Flowers solitary or in pairs on woody hooked peduncles, greenish-yellow, exceedingly fragrant. Sepals 3, valvate. Petals 6, 2-seriate, acute, minutely seriaceous, 1 1/4 - 1 1/2 in. long.; bases concave, connivent; limb spreading. Stamens numerous. Ripe carpels berried.

----- Indigenous in South India and Ceylon, and commonly cultivated in native gardens for its fragrant flowers.
