Botanical Name - Erythrina

----- Trees with prickly branches. Leaves trifoliolate ; stipules small ; stipels gland-like. Flowers large, coral-red, in dense racemes, appearing usually before the leaves. Calyx spathaceous, splitting to the base or campanulate, bilabiate. Petals unequal ; standard exserted and much larger than wings or keel. Stamens diadelphous ; anthers uniform. Ovary stalked, many ovuled ; style incurved ; stigma capitate. Pod linear, turgid, torrulose.
