Botanical Name - Jasminum sambac

----- A shrub, often more or less climbing. Leaves opposite, ovate, nearly glabrous. Flowers white, fragrant in terminal cymes, sometimes solitary. Calyx-teeth hairy, 1/4 in. long. Corolla-lobes as long as tube. Berry of one or two 1-seeded carpels, nearly globose.

----- This fragrant shrub is commonly cultivated, sometimes in large fields for its scented flowers which are largely used by Hindus to make into garlands. They are considered sacred to Vishnu and numerous varieties are grown, erect or climbing, and with large and small, double and single flowers. Flwoers profusely in the hot season. Doubtful in indigenous in India.
